Polmont

Polmont is no more than a mile east of Falkirk, sitting in a high position from where there are views of the Forth, the Wallace Monument near Stirling, the Ochil Hills to the north of the Forth and further east towards Fife.

It is an attractive commuter village with excellent rail-links to Edinburgh and Glasgow. The Union Canal also runs through Polmont and therefore there are excellent cycle paths and walkways. If you are feeling energetic you can cycle to the heart of Edinburgh in 3 hours or to Linlithgow with its famous palace in 30 minutes.

Polmonthill is the location of a popular local golf club and also the dry-slope ski-centre, offering families a very different experience with full hire facilities available. Continue along to the East and you'll find Muiravonside Country Park, with its range of family oriented activities. Travelling towards Falkirk, you will pass Callendar House and the remains of the Antonine Wall.

Polmont has a range of accommodation types, but is known locally for one of the areas's most prestigious hotels, the MacDonald Inchyra Grange. The lively Beancross with its hotel and bistro and childrens play area sits at the foot of Polmont and is another excellent high quality option for all.
